FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions families ask before care begins.

Can respite care be recurring?

Yes. Respite may be planned as recurring or extended support, depending on requested hours, care needs, location and caregiver availability.

How quickly can care begin?

We plan respite care about three weeks ahead. After a phone consultation and in-home assessment with a care questionnaire, we finalize upcoming-week requests by Wednesday and lock schedules with matched caregivers on Thursday. Care generally begins Sunday or Monday of the following week once the assessment and staffing are confirmed. Peacemaker is not an on-call, same-day or emergency service.

What can a respite caregiver help with?

The plan may include non-medical personal care, companionship, meal support, daily routines and a reassuring presence. We clarify the exact scope before care begins.

Do I have to leave the home during respite care?

No. Respite is meant to reduce your caregiving load. You can use the time in the way that is most useful to you.
